A couple years ago we sat down with a great guy and purchased our shop with a hand shake and a one page agreement on a sheet of binder paper.

Part of our agreement was to remove items left by Vern, who was retiring after a long career owning Grindy Tax Service. All of us love animals, so we decided to have an “Everything for a Buck” garage sale with all the proceeds going to the local SPCA. The sale was a great success, Vern loved it and we were able to write a nice check to the SPCA!

As a design-build certified green builder with a degree from Cal Poly’s Construction Management program I loved having the opportunity to develop a design to update and restore our little gem on lower 41st Avenue in Pleasure Point while maintaining the bungalow's "classic" lines from when it was originally built in 1937. 

My inspirations were Santa Cruz's beach bungalows sprinkled throughout town, Santa Cruz's beautiful outdoor environment, our local Patagonia shop and my desire to open up our space to the community.

We were also lucky to have some talented folk help out with the project.  Most notably Willem’s finish carpentry throughout.
